Volunteer Needs

There are a number of ways to assist in meeting the needs of those left homeless from this incomprehensible tragedy that has unfolded in New Orleans and other regions of the Gulf Coast.  The DCHC has created volunteer email communication tools to temporarily supplement those already in place by Red Cross, North Texas Volunteer Bank and United Way.  Listed below are ways that you and/or your organization can assist immediately.  

To obtain information on "Hurricane Katrina" volunteer opportunities, select the specific area(s) you wish to volunteer your services and email your detailed contact information..  Your email address and general contact information will dispersed electronically to "authorized" organizations managing volunteer services in your specific area(s) of interest.  When a specific need arises, you will be contacted by email. 

This process allows you to choose to accept the volunteer assignment by replying or simply ignore the email if you are unable to assist at that time.
